BILL T MILLER sees music and hears pictures.... doesn't everybody? As a recording engineer/producer and photographer/filmmaker he has spent his life capturing sound waves and light/shadows. His own music (OBE, Orgy Of Noise, Kings Of Feedback, Drum Army, King Of Slack) often drifts into the avant garde experimental outsider zone, just like his many of his photos. BTM has looped full circle back into the same multimedia overload quest he was on as a child in the sixties with his toy piano, theremin AM radio, tennis racquet air guitar, science lab oscillator, and kitchen junk/trash can drums. Many of these adventures were documented by his family's brownie and kodak snapshot cameras as well as super 8 film, but it wasn't until the instant gratification of the polaroid came along that he started to shoot more of his own photos. His total DIY try anything methods of shapeshifting sonics from guitar, bass, keyboards, drum, junk percussion, circuit bent toys, and even his own homemade instruments (like the "Spring-O-Caster" electric tennis racquet guitar) have always flirted with uncharted realms. With cameras he holds the same disregard for boundaries of proper technique and fine art by remixing mediums from old film (SLR, plastic disposable, polaroid) and digital cameras to home movies to circuit bent toy cameras. Now in the modern era of digital meltdown armed with Photoshop, Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools, the Do It ALL Yourself option allows total independence. Somehow with all the digital bits the goal usually seems to be to get it more analog or film-like, but sometimes embracing the digital glitch is what is needed. In the end, the quest is still for FUN. Curious? ....SEE more or HEAR more and/or SEE AND HEAR more. |
